Educating For Happiness: Aristotelian Arguments On The Importance Of Philosophical Education
Keywords:

In this paper we will examine the relationship between the Aristotelian conception of man, the notion of happiness and the need to philosophize. To do this, we will take as a starting point the analysis of the notion of téchne, since in the Protrepticus this notion not only seems to have had the meaning of productive knowledge, but also that of epistéme (frag. 34). Then we will try to demonstrate the link between this notion and that of philosophy. Finally (frags. 47-48), we will analyze how the philosophy/eudaimonia binomial is linked to elucidate why the Protrepticus is an exhortation to educate oneself in happiness. (frags. 3-5 and 103).
